After a three week holiday where my skin was exposed to extreme heat, humidity, wind and far too much UV exposure, it’s safe to say that my skin was in desperate need of some repairing tlc. I had been hanging in to a relatively new Origins serum for a couple of months; knowing that, post-holiday, I would need its promised benefits.
Promising to ‘correct the past and prevent future damage’, I had high hopes for Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins Mega-bright Skin Tone Correcting Serum.
Thankfully, I don’t have sensitive skin but when my skin is exposed to extreme or adverse weather conditions, I do experience a certain degree of redness and irritation. After using this new serum for a week, the redness and uneven tone were all but erased and two weeks later my skin is looking repaired and, dare I say it, radiant.
Science lesson alert! Harvard-trained medical doctor, Dr. Andrew Weil says that inflammation, which can cause skin irritation, is “the root cause of the most common and serious disease of ageing.” According to Dr. Weil, inflammation is the process by which the immune system delivers more nourishment and more defensive activity to an area that is injured or under attack. Occurring when areas of the skin have been challenged either by UV exposure, stress or even fatigue, pigment-producing cells are signalled to over-produce, having been irritated, and the result can be skin discolouration, dark spots and uneven tone.
Mega-Bright Skin Tone Correcting Serum is clinically proven to instantly brighten skin and improve clarity and radiance, fighting both the cause of skin discoloration, while simultaneously combating the existing visible signs (dark spots, uneven skin tone) and preventing future development.
Thankfully, age spots are not an issue for me at the moment but I do have some sun damage and pigmentation around my hairline. While this serum didn’t erase this damage (I didn’t expect it to), it definitely lightened the darkness of the discolouration so that it is less noticeable. I put this down to the healing properties of ingredients such as vitamin C, liquorice (one of the earliest Chinese medicinal herbs now known to brighten skin) and White Peony.
After twice a day use for two weeks, I genuinely couldn’t be happier with the results and I’ve added this wonder serum to my list of beauty favourites.
