FESTIVAL HAIR

Another festival and another panic about how you couldn’t possibly look good enough to bag an Arctic Monkey or King of Leon with limp and greasy camping hair. Paul Hession lends his top tips for festival fabulous hair:

At a festival, where you can only pack a limited amount of products, dry shampoo is your best friend! These travel-sized wonders from Batiste (€1.49) will have your hair feeling fresh and smelling good in seconds.  The fine powder spray also doubles up as a styling aid so if your hair has gone flat and is looking a bit lifeless just spritz your roots for an instant lift.

Exposure to wind, rain and the occasional burst of sunshine will take its toll on your tresses over the wild weekend away. Apply a leave-in conditioner such as A’kin 24hr Intensive Moisture (€12.99) to the mid lengths and ends of your hair to protect it from drying out. The A’kin range is made from all natural ingredients and the lavender in this conditioner will soften and add moisture to your locks.

Kirby Grips and hair elastics are essentials in your beauty kit. Tie hair up in a loose, messy bun for an on-trend look that also disguises unmanageable hair. Add a pretty headband to keep hairs out of your face and add a bit of colour. If you’ve got the length, a braid or fishtail plait is a chic look that will wear well throughout the long evenings. Use the kirby grips to pin down flyaway hairs, lumps and bumps and fringes that are past their sell by date.

If all else fails, do as Rihanna did at Coachella and wear a hat! 70s style wide brimmed hats, trilbys, boaters and fedoras will make your look extra festival funky and cover up that wild mane and tired, sleep deprived eyes. Try ASOS, River Island and Penneys for affordable high street versions.
