In my current celebrity autobiography obsession, I stumbled upon funny woman Dawn French’s attempt. Dear Fatty caught my eye instantly; who wouldn’t be drawn to such a crude title; I was intrigued!
The book is written in the style of letters – some as spectacularly funny as you would expect from the award-winning comedienne and some slightly more poignant; as Dawn recounts memories missed by her deceased father.
The book is so honest and heartfelt and the memories are so clearly written; helped in no small part by the diaries she has kept over the years.
This autobiography really is an all-rounder and features humour, sex, devilment, first boyfriends and many happy years spent with ex-husband Lenny Henry. If you want a laugh, one of those belly aching ones, do read!
